TRIP REPORT 2007

This year, for the fifth time, I worked with Rolando Arburola, owner of Costa Rica Dive, to bring participants on a Brendan Regan Photography Expedition. During the past four trips we have experienced photographic opportunities ranging from portraits to landscapes and everything in between—this year was no exception.

This year we returned again to Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Rolando devised an itinerary geared to all levels and types of photography. We hiked through rain forests, visited Spanish Colonial towns, walked through bustling shopping markets, and visited an island with two volcanoes. Our accommodations included a boutique hotel in beautiful Granada, Nicaragua, beachfront bungalows on Ometepe Island, Nicaragua, and resort suites in Costa Rica. What a way to escape the hectic pace of day to day life and kick up your feet after a day of photographing.

Thanks to Rolando, tour leader Elvis Madrigal, and our driver Tio, the trip was an insider’s look into the real everyday life of Latin America. Off the beaten path we photographed artisans in small towns, kids playing baseball, a cigar factory, and even had the opportunity to spend some time with kids at an Orphanage. Along with meeting all these new friends, we climbed the largest cathedral in Central America, photographed an abandoned hospital a city block wide, and spent a morning in the beauty of the local cemetery. It is this type of specialized and custom service that Rolando and the staff of Nicaragua Dive has been delivering on all my trips and makes them so magical.

I continue to recommend Rolando and his staff with the utmost trust, respect, and promise that every detail on each one of my trips is never overlooked. He is truly a leader in the travel industry and provides the trips that are not only enjoyable but safe and secure at each turn.
